Chanonry Cottage is located on the tip of Chanonry Point, a spit of land extending into the Moray Firth between Fortrose and Rosemarkie on the famous ‘Black Isle’ of Scotland.
This 3 bedroomed cottage has been extensively renovated by its new owners and enjoys captivating views in all directions. On three sides and within a hundred metres of the property are the beaches and North Sea waters of the Firth with Fort George, the Kessock Bridge and Inverness all visible in the distance. On the other side are uninterrupted views over the Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club as well as of the villages after which it is named. Established in 1793, this club is reputed to be the 15th oldest in the world! The well-manicured gardens of the cottage border on the 4th hole and 5th tee of the course which, like the cottage itself, is steeped in history.
The Point is acknowledged to be one of the best spots in the UK to view bottlenose dolphins from land, particularly on an incoming tide when they play and fish in the currents. Other sea life, including porpoises, grey seals and European otters can also be spotted.
For those of our guests who are interested in birding, it is worth noting that the Firth’s status as a fish conservation area has added to its attraction for many bird species which also abound in this jewel of a location.
The cottage provides all of the modern conveniences necessary to ensure a thoroughly enjoyable stay. And for those of our guests who can bear to tear themselves away from the Point, it also provides an ideal location from which to visit the very many attractions that the Scottish Highlands are renowned for.
