6 Bedroom House in Dirfys-Messapia, Paralia Politikon
Literally built on the waterfront, in Paralia Politikon (Politika beach), which is in the island of Evia, this house offers the most unique feeling one can ask on his vacation: a private beach!
Paralia Politikon is 115 km approx from the Athens Airport.
The house was built on 1967 and has been refurbished several times since then of course. It has kept his original look, but with a touch of modern internal facilities and decoration. It is maintained every year, so as to provide a flawless stay.
In the upper floor there are 7 bedrooms (4 doubles, 1 triple and 2 singles) with 4 1/2 bathrooms. The rooms are not very big, but they are comfortable, each with his own closet and facing the fields and mountains behind the house, or the sea in front of it. It has a large veranda where you can relax upon waking up, a small kitchenette with a big fridge and a desk for working on your laptop. It also has some gym equipment, such as bicycle, abs working system etc. There is a very practical external marmor stair, which leads from the garden to the upper floor and vice versa (so someone avoids to cross the living room).
On the ground floor, there is the big living-room with tv/stereo corner with the fireplace, large comfortable sofas with a long wooden table, ideal for table games or cozy chats, a dining-room, the WC and the kitchen, fully equipped and with a balcony leading to the storage-room where the washing/dryer machine is situated.
There is a very large and big front veranda, equipped with a comfortable corner sofa, big cushions on a sisal carpet and a big dining table. This veranda offers a beautiful view throughout the green garden to the blue water of the sea.
The front garden has a BBQ, a long wooden table and other garden furniture to seat and relax.
It leads to the private beach, equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, table and chairs. The beach is covered with pebbles and stones, so it's wise to wear watershoos for the more "sensitive" feet. The water is very clean and changes its course every six hours because of the low and high tide, which is famous in the area.
There is a canoe which you can use - the water is practically always very calm.
The backyard is ideal for kids, equipped with swings, basketball, ping-pong table, racquets for badminton etc.
You can have a busy as well as a calm stay, it's fully up to you: to the left, some 300 meters away from the house, there is TUZ, a beach and ski sports club, with a variety of water sports, lovely drinks and snacks and discrete music. To your right, you can have a very nice walk along the promenade of Politika, to the small harbour and furthermore to the light house, where you can choose any of the cafés, restaurants or tavernas.
The village is 1200 meters away from home, offering a very traditional atmosphere, with the typical village square surrounded by "kafeneia" (local word for café/snack bar) and where lots of cultural happenings take place through the summertime.
There is a Venetian tower, with a small museum, right next to the square and also a monastery (Panagia Perivleptos) higher on the hill overlooking Politika, with a church dated 900ad.
Evia is 3.654km long, the second biggest island in Greece (after Crete) and is united with the mainland by two bridges, the old bridge of Chalkida (capital of Evia) and the new bridge.
Chalkida is the capital city of Evia island and has a lot of sightseeing to offer, from a very well equipped commercial quarter, to a Venetian castle and to the very popular promenade with fish tavernas, cafés, hotels etc.
The northern part of the island is very green and offers splendid views from the mountains and little villages with lovely beaches.
Last but not least, Politika is a place for those who prefer to have a relaxing vacation, away from the crowdy popular touristic islands!
