Our beautiful country house is located between 2 quiet Cretan villages, nestled in olive and wine fields at the foot of the famous Jouchta mountain far away from the mass tourism of Crete and yet only 9 km inland from the center of the capital Heraklion.
You will be 20min away from the closest beaches (Ammoudara, Amnissos, Pantanassa) and you will find traditional villages, restaurants, hiking routes and archaeological places close to the house (Knossos, Archanes).
If you want to get to know typical Cretan life from close proximity, you can visit the two villages and drink your Greek coffee in traditional kafeneions as well as an espresso or capucino in the modern cafeteria. If you feel like delicious Cretan cuisine, there are good tavernas in both villages.
Near our house, about 2 km away, there is a supermarket, a traditional fruit and vegetable vendor, 2 kiosks and a pharmacy located right on the main street.
During the week, a regular bus runs 5 times a day from here to Heraklion to the city centre and back, but on weekends it only runs twice, so that you can travel with your own vehicle in order to be able to make excursions independently of public transport.
