Base Camp Tasmania is a family run business located only 45 minutes from the city of Hobart, however staying with us offers a truly Australian bush experience. The drive out to our property is along a picturesque valley road, where you will easily spot Australian animals along the drive.
Our accommodation is located in a quiet setting, surrounded by Tasmanian bush and grassy green slopes. The mixed dormitory has ten comfortable beds, with linen and a towel provided. There are magical bush views from every window in the dormitory space. Guests have access to hot showers, toilets and a communal kitchen and lounge area. There is a comfortable deck and hammocks for relaxing. We also offer free wifi, parking and laundry facilities. We are on 100 acres and guests are welcome to walk the 2km walking trail we have around the property. There are picnic tables located along the walk with pretty views of the valley below.
Guests are welcome to join us in the evening to feed our friendly animals, including wallabies, pademelons and possums. If you are lucky, you might even spot an echidna, wombat or Tasmanian devil! The nearest town of New Norfolk is a 15 minute drive away, with many other experiences to be had all within driving distance. Pop into Hobart for the day, spend time hiking in Mt Field National Park, have a go at the mountain biking park at Maydena, or ask us about some our favourite things to do locally. Base Camp Tasmania is guaranteed to offer you a unique stay at our wilderness retreat.
